Obituary for Carolyn L. Christensen

Carolyn L. Christensen, born November 28, 1923 in Pontiac, Michigan, passed away March 28, 2017 surrounded by family. Carolyn will be sadly missed by her children: Kirt (Ann) Christensen of Pennington NJ, Del (Connie) Christensen of Houston, TX, Kay (Michael) Hohn of Morgantown, WV, and Dawn (Herb) Fields of Holt, MI; her grandchildren: Ryan, Craig, Casey, Danielle, and Tony Christensen, Jason and Bradley Fields, Geoffrey and Abigail Hohn, and Chloe and Graham Johnson; and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Christensen; her parents, George and Juanita Edwards; and her brothers, Robert Edwards and her twin Norman Edwards.

Carolyn graduated from Olivet College in 1946, and taught a total of 19 years as an elementary school teacher in Coldwater, Jackson, and Essexville, Michigan. In 1950 Carolyn married Donald Christensen. Over her lifetime, Carolyn enjoyed her family, her friends, her dogs, and many hobbies including bridge, baking, sewing, horses, jewelry and pottery making, swimming, biking, and traveling. Carolyn and Donald spent many active retirement years together, splitting their time between Sun City, Arizona and Rexburg, Idaho.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held 1-3 pm on June 10, 2017 at Heartdance Studio, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI, (parking lot on Leslie Street). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beekman Therapeutic Riding Center or Olivet College in memory of Carolyn Christensen. Online condolences can be made at
