Obituary for Charles "Charlie" D. Cusack

Charles “Charlie” Cusack, 66, of Grand Ledge, MI, passed away suddenly at his home April 9, 2018. Charlie was born May 20th, 1951 in Carson City, MI to Richard and Florence Cusack. He grew up in Hubbardston, MI with his five siblings; graduated from Carson City High School in 1969, then attended Michigan State University. On December 11, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart Sharon (Blanchard) in Hubbardston. Charlie worked for Motor Wheel for 15 years in Lansing, then another 22 years for the State of Michigan Archives, retiring in 2012. He loved watching his daughters play sports growing up, and after they left school he and his wife continued to support Grand Ledge High School Athletics. Charlie was a big MSU fan and held season tickets with his brother for the women’s basketball team. He loved to golf and read at the lake during the summers. Charlie was very proud of his hometown, Hubbardston, and of his Irish roots. Family was the most important thing to Charlie, and he always looked forward to the next event that would bring everyone together, especially in Hubbardston.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon and their two daughters, Rashelle (Eric) Kerastas and Allie Cusack; step-grandchildren: Breck, Jordan, Kayley; 5 siblings, Jeanne (Roy) Berry, Mary Jo (LaDell) Goodroad, Fred Cusack, Patricia (Chris) Howlett, Larry (Cindy) Cusack; father and mother-in-law Betty and Don Blanchard, brother-in-law Steve Blanchard, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Peggy Cusack.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837, with Rev. Father James Eisele as celebrant. A funeral luncheon will follow at the Grand Ledge Masonic Lodge banquet hall, 200 W. River St. Visitation will be held at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Ledge Library or Hands On Hubbardston in memory of Charles Cusack.
