Obituary for Gregory Barnes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Gregory Lyle Barnes. He was born to Harley and Norma Barnes on August 1, 1964 in Lansing, Michigan.
As a child, Greg enjoyed music, ice skating, and showing cattle with his family. Greg graduated from Interlochen Center for the Arts and earned a full scholarship from Southern Methodist University.
After college Greg was a percussionist with the Dallas Opera and after moving to California worked as a studio musician in Hollywood. His work can be heard on soundtracks, including the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
Eventually wanting a career that could grow, he ended up in the collection law industry in Denver Colorado. He worked his way from the bottom up and held the title of Vice President for several companies toward the later part of his time there.
Greg loved his family and shortly before the loss of his Mother in 2017 he moved home to help with the care of his parents.
Greg was a brilliant mind and a very talented musician. His wit and smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Greg was preceded in death by his Mother Norma and survived by his Father Harley, sister Debra (Bill) Hansbarger, brother Randy (Penny), and many nieces and nephews.
No services will be held at this time. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the Ever Ready Club or Eaton County 4-H in memory of Gregory Barnes. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. www.petersandmurrayfuneralhome.com
