Obituary for Harold Carl Malmquist

Harold Carl Malmquist Jr., 85, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, MI, born October 7, 1931 in Cleveland, OH, passed away June 24, 2017 in Lansing, MI. Harold was an avid fox hunter in the 70’s, enjoyed hunting and trapping, and taught his family to hunt with a bow. He owned the convenience store in Shelby, MI, and then moved back to Lansing with his wife, Isabell to manage a Quality Dairy Store for 10 years. They then moved to Weidman where he started Hal’s Sharpening Shed. At the age of 70 he went to work at soaring Eagle Casino as a security guard, and during his last years lovingly cared for his wife.

Harold is survived by his wife, Isabell, daughter Cynthia (Thomas) Courtright, 3 sons: Jeffrey (Michelle), Timothy (Joellyn), Michael (Jennifer); stepchildren: Rae Deane, Russell, Reese, and Reid Sommers; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Carl Malmquist.

In honoring Harold’s wishes, no services will be held. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Delta Twp., Eaton County. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 2205 Jolly Rd, Okemos, MI 48864.
