Obituary for Harvey Charles Lofgren

Harvey Charles Lofgren, age 82, was called home to the Lord on February 23, 2020. He was born May 25, 1937 in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada, son to Eric and Myrtle (Entner) Lofgren.
Harvey was one of ten children raised on a farm in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. He had a desire for education so chose to attend high school at Bryn Mawr while living with his sister, Irene, and her husband Elmer. He left Canada to attend Bethel College in Minnesota where he met and fell in love with Jan Drury. It was obvious by the love letters he wrote to her every day while they were apart over the summer. They were married in 1960 while still in school and graduated to start their lives together teaching school in Michigan. He pursued his education and graduated with a Masters from Michigan State University. He later left teaching and started Horta-Craft which he sold to John Henry Corporation and pursued his career owning/running Precision Tune.
To know Harvey, was to love him. He always had a big smile on his face and brought joy to everyone around him. He loved Michigan State and Grand Ledge sports and could often be seen with his son, Nate, who was brain injured in July 1993. The devotion and unconditional love he had for his wife and children were obvious to everyone. But, his grandchildren were the light of his life.
His life was spent being a servant of the God he loved and served with his entire life while attending and being an instrumental part of Grand Ledge Baptist Church. His prayers were always filled with wanting protection for the shut-ins and those who were alone or in need. He was God's hands on earth and a true man of moral character.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Drury), of 59 years, his children: daughters, Darlene Mayhak and Marla (Tom) Pier, his sons, Nathan and Neal; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Louise (Eric) Danielson and Marie (Walter) Davidson; 3 brothers: Edward (Jean), Stan (Glenda), and Garry (Julia). He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: James, Lesly, Ivan, and sister, Irene Berkan.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grand Ledge Baptist Church, 1120 Willow Hwy, Grand Ledge. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grand Ledge Baptist Church Benevolence Fund and/or Shared Pregnancy in memory of Harvey Lofgren.
