Obituary for Van Paul Woodcock

Van Paul Woodcock, 67, born September 13, 1949, passed away June 28, 2017 in Lansing, MI. Van was an employee of General Motors as a tool & die welder for 40 years. During his time at GM, he also served as a skilled trades committeeman and shop committee for UAW Local 652. He was avid Harley enthusiast, enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, and loved gambling (Black Jack). Van was a family man and a jack of all trades …. “Only two things I can’t fix a broken heart and the break of day.”

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judith, son T.J. (Nicole) Woodcock of Kentucky, daughter Amber (Steve) Woolfenden of Massachusetts; grandson Leo Woolfenden, brother Robert (Becky) Woodcock of Eaton Rapids and sister Artha (Jim) Summers of Montana. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Evyline (Friar) Woodcock and sister Diana Cosper.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel American Grill, 7888 E. Grand River Ave., Portland, MI 48875. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lansing and Ionia Area Hospice, 3186 Pine Tree Rd, Lansing MI 48910 in memory of Van Woodcock.
