Obituary for Ella Westwood

Ella Westwood, 97, a resident of Grand Ledge, MI for 50+ years, passed away March 10, 2020. She was born February 8, 1923 in Marion, MI, daughter to Charles and Annie (Christie) Perro. Ella was a graduate of Eastern High School class of 1940, former owner of Harry's & Ella’s Too Restaurant & Bar and Jamo’s Pizza, Grand Ledge.; also a former employee of U.S.D.A.

She is survived by her children: son, James (Linda) Westwood of Grand Ledge; daughters, Yvonne Westwood and Elaine Antcliffe of Leslie, 5 grandchildren: Lisa (Jason) Broyles, James Westwood II, Amanda (Karl) Anthony, Aaron Antcliff, Olivia Antcliff; 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her soulmate Harry, and daughter, Gail Griffin.

Ella was a kind, giving, loving person who welcomed you into her home with "Are you hungry?" "Do you want something to eat?" Her laughter was a joy to hear, so much so, that you would try to make her laugh just to hear it once more. She loved her dogs and cats and was a huge proponent of adopting a pet from the Humane Society.

Ella worked side by side with her husband Harry at the Harry's and Ella's Too Restaurant and Bar and Jamo's Pizza, both in Grand Ledge. To this day we are still getting comments from folks who miss the fabulous pizza and sandwiches they made.

Ella's marriage to Harry was a true love story for 59 years. They went everywhere together. Auctions were a favorite pastime. They would laugh at each other's jokes or something they did. We are sure they are happy to be reunited once again in heaven.

One of Ella's favorite hobbies were knitting. She would knit countless little caps to give to the hospital for newborn babies. She was such a selfless person who always thought of others before herself. We will miss her so very much.

In honoring Ella’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Because she loved animals so much, contributions may be made to the Lansing Humane Socuety on her behalf. The family has entrusted arrangements to Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Online condolences may be shared at
